Children can develop many of the same dental issues as adults without regular professional care, but they certainly have their own unique dental needs as well. At Epic Family Dentistry of Carrollton, we’re more than happy to treat Carrollton’s most precious smiles, including toddlers, teenagers, and everyone in between. Our goal is to make every child feel comfortable in our dental office so they form a positive association with dental care right at the beginning, making future appointments easier for everyone.
When should I schedule my child’s first dental appointment?
In accordance with the American Academy of Children’s Dentistry, we recommend that your child should have their very first dental appointment as soon as their first tooth appears or no later than their first birthday.
What will my child’s first appointment be like?
Like we mentioned above, your child’s comfort is our top priority. When they come to see us for the first time, they’ll be greeted by friendly smiles, and then we’ll give you both a quick tour of the office so they can meet the team and start to adjust to the new surroundings.
Then, you’ll both get to sit down with Dr. Azmoodeh. He’ll take a few moments to chat with you about your child’s medical history, and then he’ll perform a gentle exam while they sit in your lap. Afterward, he’ll talk about his findings and discuss what you can do to look after your growing smile.
Long-Term Children's Dental Care
As your child ages, their appointments will begin to more closely resemble yours. We’ll discuss the need for orthodontic treatment if necessary around the age of seven. Overall, our primary goals are to prevent tooth decay and ensure proper oral development while making sure that the dental office is always a welcoming place for them.
